Selection Technique of Washing Color Fastness Test

According to China’s product standards and actual usage, washability test for color fastness of fabrics, garments (ornaments) and textile products generally can select from the following methods:

1. Fabric category

Test the color fastness of the fabric; the washing method should be selected for its end use. In the case of unknown use, choose the following methods:

1.1 Silk, viscose fiber, wool, nylon fabric, concerning GB / T 3921-2008A (1), test temperature (40 ± 2) ¡æ.

1.2 Cotton, linen, polyester, acrylic fiber fabrics, concerning GB / T 3921-2008C (3), the test temperature (60 ± 2) ¡æ.

1.3 New fiber, such as Lyocell, Modal, milk protein fiber, and soybean protein fiber, should be based on fiber performance and dyeing process, generally selected GB / T 3921-2008A (1) standard, test temperature (40 ± 2 ) C.

2. Clothing (ornaments) class

2.1 Knitted dress, knitted dress, knit dress, infant knitting apparel, socks and bra and other products, concerning GB / T 3921-2008A (1) standard temperature (40 ± 2) ¡æ. However, in cotton knitted products, cotton knitted underwear, T-shirts (except nylon), knitted sportswear and linen knitwear should refer to GB / T 3921-2008C (3) test temperature (60 ± 2) ¡æ.

2.2 Wool knitwear, wool sweater according to the washing requirements of GB / T 12490-2007 in the selection of A1S and B2S method, hand-washing selection A1S procedures, washing machine selection B2S procedures; low wool and wool-like knitwear, cashmere sweater GB / T 12490 -2007 kinds of A1S test conditions.

2.3 Woven garments denim garments, single folder clothing, skirt sets, infant clothing, and jackets, use GB / T 3921-2008C.

Method, the test temperature was (60 ± 2) ¡æ; but the composition is silk, sticky, linen and blended fabric single folder clothing, skirt, infant clothing and jackets (also including nylon fabric jacket) to use GB / T 3921-2008A¡£(1) method, the test temperature is (40 ± 2) ¡æ. 3. Home Textiles

3.1 Towels and bed linen, according to the relevant industry standards, towels, bedding wash fastness tested by GB / T 3921-2008C implementation of the test temperature (60 ± 2) ¡æ.

3.2 Test method for color fastness of decorative fabrics, according to GB / T 12490-2007 in the A1S conditions, if the product instruction is for the gentle washing or hand washing, then the test does not use steel balls.

4. Recommendations

4.1 Testing the color fastness of the textile washing, according to the standards and trade needs to choose washing methods and paste lining, domestic trade can choose a single fiber paste lining, export trade commonly used multi-fiber paste lining.

4.2 Test sampling should be representative, especially for printing products, to ensure that each color was taken, the rating should pay attention to the corresponding color pattern.

4.3 The combined specimen is a short-side stitch when the sample is a yarn or fiber dispersion; the sample is attached to half of the total lining fabric, sewing along the four sides

4.4 Preheat the test solution to the test temperature. Otherwise, it will affect the test results

4.5 For grading, the eyes should be perpendicular to the sample, the light source and the sample at 45 o, the distance is maintained at 30-40 cm; for glossy samples, the light source is vertical, and the gaze is 45 o.
